Helmsdale Lodge Hostel is located in the scenic coastal village of Helmsdale in north east Sutherland, Scotland.
It is in a prominent position at the north end of the village and is on the main NC500 and Land End John o' Groats routes. It is also half way between Inverness and the Orkney ferries.
There are six en-suite bedrooms - each bedroom sleeping up to four people. A fully equipped self-catering kitchen with complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk. A spacious open plan dining and lounge area, log burning stove, central heating, drying rooms, laundry facilities and free wifi. A large garden to relax outdoors and a secure cycle shed. Car-parking is free on the roadside next to the property.
The building is the former village school gymnasium built in 1931. It is an extremely individual structure and refurbishments since private ownership have been sympathetic in efforts to retain its originality. The high ceilings and general layout of the building creates a spacious light and airy atmosphere.

Marie’s started out her career as a Medical Scientist. She later trained as a Psychotherapist and using her skills within health and social work, she helped develop a professional community counselling service which she remains involved with. Marie also enjoys the great outdoors and has a passion for travelling and meeting people. She is also a keen cook and renowned for producing culinary delights from a basic camping stove on her many sea-kayaking and cycling trips. Molly, the border collie is also a longstanding team member.
